They pick a simple enemy story: one group is pure evil, your side is pure good, and all messy facts are called “excuses”.
They use fear as a shortcut: “act now or we die”, so you stop asking for proof, costs, and alternatives.
They hide the price: dead civilians become numbers, long injuries become silence, and rebuilding is treated as someone else’s problem.
They make dissent feel shameful: questioning the plan is framed as betrayal, weakness, or “helping the enemy”.
The antidote is boring but strong: demand clear aims, believable evidence, limits, exit plans, and a real accounting of human cost.
